Description |
Colourized postcard of Argyle Street, Port Alberni. The view is looking to the east and Mount Arrowsmith is in the centre of the image at the top of the road. Cars are parked on both sides of the street and two cars are driving east, up the hill. Somass hotel is on the left and the King Edward Hotel is on the right. Below the King Edward, there is building with a sign "SHEL(L)", and below that a sign "Winchester Cigarettes". A. McDonald Hardware further up the street on the same side. Carmoor Building on the lower right. Telephone lines are on both side of the street. Railway crossing sign in the foreground. A man stands on the road side and a small dog is in front of him. Printed on the bottom of the postcard "ARGYLE STREET, PORT ALBERNI B.C." and "Alberni Valley Series No. 43". Printed on the back of the postcard is "This is a Real Photograph Hand Coloured. / Published by The Camera Products Co., 1731 Dunbar Street, / Vancouver, B.C."; "Made in England"; "POST CARD" and "The Address only to be written here". |
